Shelter in the Mountains

Welcome!

“I felt it shelter to speak to you.”
— Emily Dickinson

The decision to seek support is rarely a simple one. It takes courage to arrive here — to hope that different ways of thinking, feeling, and moving through life might be possible.

Therapy offers a kind of shelter for that hope: it is a space for inquiry, discovery, practice, and the ongoing conversation between what is and what could be. Within that space, my approach focuses on helping you heal and become more fully yourself.

I’m glad you’re here! Whether you pass through or stay awhile, may you find refuge and ease on your journey.

I’m Dawn.

I’m an associate therapist (LMHCA) with more than a decade of experience supporting others through cognitive, behavioral, mindfulness, and body-based interventions. As a collaborative partner in your therapy, I strive to create a non-judgmental, brave space for you to explore self-inquiry, embodiment, and healing on your terms.

I will invite you to dream boldly in our work together, and I will wholeheartedly believe in your capacity to heal and create the results you imagine — even when you don’t. Together, we will help you move toward the life you envision.

I look forward to hearing from you!

Specialties

OCD

Intrusive thoughts and compulsions can feel relentless and take over daily life. We’ll work together through approaches like Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help you regain freedom from rituals so you can spend more time doing what brings you joy.

Anxiety & Stress

Worry, perfectionism, and panic pull us from the present and deplete our energy. Using approaches like Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Somatic Experiencing (SE), we’ll help loosen the grip of “what if” thinking and identify ways to feel more grounded in the present.

Trauma & PTSD

Trauma can leave us feeling unsafe and disconnected from our body, our emotions, and the world around us. We’ll use approaches like EMDR and Somatic Experiencing (SE) to process difficult experiences and expand your capacity to be with a range of bodily sensations and emotions. TCTSY may also be incorporated.

Chronic Pain

Whether pain is structural or neuroplastic (mind-body pain), it is real! Using Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT), we’ll address cognitive, behavioral, and emotional patterns impacting your pain to help retrain your brain’s interpretation of bodily sensations. PRT helps break the fear-pain cycle, leading to the lessening of chronic pain.
